Difficult decision made to cancel Party in the Park tonight

Popular outdoor event Party in the Park was called off due to the threat of thunderstorms.

The Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association officials made the last-minute announcement by social media and online on Friday afternoon that the jam-packed entertainment schedule for Aug. 2 is all cancelled.

The decision was made by the board, as the rain was pouring down earlier, with consideration of the safety of volunteers and the public in mind, they said.

"Hope to see everyone on Friday Aug. 9 for Party in the Park Western Night!" added organizers.
