Expect delays as suspicious suitcase snarls traffic on Young

Traffic is again flowing along Young Road after being diverted while Chilliwack RCMP investigated a suitcase found on the rail tracks near Trethewey Avenue.

Police – treating the situation as potentially dangerous – had called in the integrated police dog services to further investigate. The suitcase has since been found to be harmless and has been removed from the tracks.

Traffic in the area is moving again however, several trains have been backed up as a result of this incident and they will be coming through the Young and Trethewey tracks one after the other, police say. Motorists who need to be in the area, are being told to expect long delays.
