Hope woman, 82, dies in head-on crash
An 82-year-old Hope woman was killed in a head-on collision on Hwy 1 near the Bradner Road rest stop early Saturday.
As she pulled out of the rest stop in a 2005 4-door Buick Allure she entered the westbound lanes of Hwy 1 heading east.
She crashed into a family from Chilliwack in a 2003 Mazada 3 hatchback heading west at about 10:45 a.m.
The 29-year-old Chilliwack man and his 24-year-old wife sustained non life-threatening injuries. Their three-month old baby was unharmed.
"This tragic loss of life has impacted a family forever," Sgt. Peter Thiessen said in a news release.
"This is a time of year when families come together and celebrate the holidays, but unfortunately a family now grieves the loss of a beloved family member," he said.
The name of the deceased woman was not released pending notification of kin.
The Upper Fraser Valley Traffic Services continues to investigate.
