Chilliwack corn shuckers broke the world record

It's official.

Chilliwack broke the Guinness World Record for the most number of people corn-shucking at one time last summer in Central Community Park.

The official word from Guinness confirming the news arrived at Star 98.3 offices this week, in the wake of the record-breaking attempt held at Party in the Park on July 6, 2012.

"We received the official paperwork this week!" reported Lisa Stevens of Star FM. "Nice work everyone."

The certificate from Guinness World Records credits the Chillliwack event for the most people “husking corn” at the same time, with a total of 592 people.

That broke the previous record of 351 people that was set in California.

The record-breaking attempt attracted more than 600 people in Chilliwack, and was a way to celebrate Star FM's 85th anniversary.

They had to submit aerial photos and video evidence to Guinness as well as a site plan.
