There's huge interest being shown across Chilliwack from folks who would like to take home a piece of the old Paramount Theatre.

City officials are offering the theatre seats in groups of four, to be given away in a lottery.

More than 270 people have already requested a piece of Chilliwack history.

"I think it speaks to the nostalgia that's out there," said Acting Mayor Jason Lum. "People appreciate the opportunity to keep something that's special to them."

Chilliwack Museum officials have already been through the old Paramount to select other items to keep for posterity.

City officials decided to draw names in a lottery since they have more people interested than they have seats. There's a total of roughly 600 seats available, or 137 sets of four, since some are damaged.

The deadline for putting in a request for the seats is Thursday, October 18. To be entered in the lottery contact Renton@Chilliwack.com or phone 604.793.2716.
