Boil water advisory lifted for Little Mountain
Chilliwack’s boil water advisory on Little Mountain was lifted earlier than expected.
City officials were delivering notices to that effect to just under 300 homes in the Mount Shannon area on Monday.
A plan to deal with the report of E. coli in the drinking water, was devised by city staff in consultation with the chief medical officer from Fraser Health, and that moved things along more quickly than the Aug. 31 estimate of when the boil water advisory would be lifted.
The water will continue to be chlorinated for an undetermined period, despite the fact that officials have racked up seven consecutive days of clear readings from the water sampling tests.
At this point the sample tap on the one of the reservoirs is believed to be the source of the contamination.
The affected water reservoir was isolated and chlorination is being supplied from the other reservoir in the hillside water system.
