Neighbour in her 90s helps nail suspect
Chilliwack RCMP are crediting the sharp eyes of a neighbour in her 90s for the arrest of a break-and-entre suspect in Chilliwack Wednesday afternoon.
The woman saw a man kick in the door of her neighbour’s garage at around 1 p.m. in the 46000 block of Reece Avenue.
The woman told police that she saw a man kick in the side garage door to her neighbours house and enter the residence. Several members from the Chilliwack RCMP responded and located a 35-year-old Rosedale man inside the residence. The man was arrested without incident. He was held in custody and appeared in court this morning.
Patrick Woodcox has been charged with break and enter and commit, and possession of a break-in instrument. He remains in custody until his next court appearance on Nov. 29, 2011.
"This woman should be commended for her watchful eye and for paying attention to what is going on in her neighbourhood," said Corporal Tammy Hollingsworth. "Break and enters happen at all times of the day and night. This is a reminder to call the police when you see someone suspicious in your neighbourhood, just like this woman did."
