Chilliwack woman wakes to stranger masturbating

A 20-year-old Chilliwack woman woke up to find a strange man masturbating in her living room.

Chilliwck RCMP said a man entered the home through a ground-level sliding door, which may have been left unlocked in the residence in the 5900-block of Vedder Road.

Once the woman awoke from the couch where she'd been sleeping, the man ran off.

"The woman was unharmed, but in disbelief," said RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth.

Police are reminding everyone to lock their doors and windows at night or when away from home.

"We know it's been hot and it's nice to sleep with a door or a window open, but we don't want this type of incident to happen again," she said.

The call came into RCMP just after midnight Sunday.

The male was described about 30 with a possible goatee, in tan pants or shorts.

So far it's an "isolated incident," according to police, and no other reports have come in to Serious Crime officers, who are investigating.
