Business break-ins at Sardis strip mall

Three businesses located in a strip mall near the intersection of Vedder Road and Knight Road in Sardis were hit by thieves early Saturday morning, police say.

The Chicken Time Restaurant, First Choice Haircutters and a “relatively vacant” office owned by the Langbroek, Louwerse &Thiessen accounting firm were found with windows broken or locks pried when police arrived just after 1 a.m.

But only the restaurant reported anything missing, a cash box with an undisclosed amount of money.

RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth asked the public to keep their eyes open at night when business are closed, and report any suspicious activity to police.

“The theft and the damage caused from break-and-enters not only cost money for business owners, it also causes them grief,” she said.

Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
