As voters are heading to the polls on Tuesday, more than 1,300 BC Hydro customers were without power in Rosedale and East Chilliwack.

By 3:15 p.m. the number of those affected was down to 480 north of Nevin Road, west of Highway 9, east of Standeven Road south of the Fraser River.

A pickup truck collided with a car and then sheared off a power pole at 11 a.m. at Yale and McGrath roads causing the outage and road closures.

A video of the incident was captured on a security camera and was posted to the Facebook group, Chilliwack Beware Chat & Scanner here.

There were apparently no injuries.

BC Hydro now estimates power will be back on by 8:00 p.m.

There are two polling places in the area affected by the outage, Rosedale Traditional Community School and East Chilliwack Elementary, but reports from the schools are that voting is continuing.
