Chilliwack RCMP responded to a hit-and-run on Sunday evening (April 28) that led to the discovery of ammunition and firearm parts.

This was just one of the 320 calls for service received by the Chilliwack RCMP detachment between 6 a.m. on Friday, April 26, and 4 a.m. Monday April 29.

Police were dispatched to the Garrison neighbourhood of Chilliwack at approximately 9:30 p.m. after receiving a complaint that a vehicle had side-swiped another, before fleeing the area.

Authorities were able to locate the suspect vehicle abandoned nearby with sustained damage consistent with the reported collision. Upon a search of the vehicle, police located ammunition and 3D-printed firearm components suggesting firearms manufacturing. The evidence was promptly seized by police as investigation into the identity of the driver continues.

Other calls included a Bitcoin scam, overnight theft from vehicles, impaired drivers, and a motorcycle traffic stop.

Police conducted a routine traffic stop with the motorcycle near the Chilliwack airport at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Officials then learned that the male rider, a Moroccan citizen, held outstanding warrants in Quebec, as well as a Canada-Wide Immigration Warrant.

A search of the man following his arrest uncovered numerous fraudulent identification cards including various driver’s licences from several different provinces. The suspect was handed over to the Canada Border Services Agency as the investigation into the fake IDs continues.
