Chilliwack RCMP are offering safety reminders after two fatal off-roading crashes occurred in the Chilliwack River Valley within one week of each other.

The most recent was a deadly crash on Chipmunk Creek Forest Service Road late Saturday afternoon between two off-road motorcycles.

“Life-saving measures were exhausted on a 22-year-old female rider but she sadly succumbed to her injuries,” said Cpl. Carmen Kiener, spokesperson for Chilliwack RCMP.

Officers with the integrated collision analysis section were at the scene investigating.

“This is the second fatality in a week involving an off-road vehicle in the Chipmunk Creek area,” the officer said.

RCMP responded to a fatal collision on April 13 involving a single off-road vehicle, that led to the death of a 31-year-old woman.

“We would like to remind the public to be safe when enjoying the outdoors on motorized vehicles,” the officer said, adding these recommendations:

• Always wear a helmet

• Wear a seatbelt if the vehicle is equipped with one

• Respect the environment

• Maintain a safe speed.

• Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs
