Join the francophones for wine and cheese

Register for the "sucre à la crème" contest in Chilliwack no later than Nov. 23, by email to assfvf@gmail.com

Fans of francophone culture will be gathering in Chilliwack for a special evening.

A wine and cheese tasting event will get underway Nov. 30 at the Sutton Downtown Business Centre at 7 p.m., hosted by the Fraser Valley Francophone Association.

A well-loved confection during the Christmas holidays in Quebec and among French Canadians is a type of cream fudge known as "sucre à la crème," which is a little softer and more granular than traditional fudge.

There are many variations, but the classic recipe uses cream, brown sugar and butter.

Organizers are ready to give out three prizes on Nov. 30 for the best submitted examples of sucre à la crème, and the deadline for entry is this Friday, Nov. 23.

First prize is a $75 gift certificate for Bravo Restaurant and Lounge, second is $50 retail certificate, and third is a $25 bottle of wine.

Register for the "sucre à la crème" contest (no nuts please)  no later than Nov. 23, by email to assfvf@gmail.com or by contacting organizers online at www.afvfc.ca

The wine and cheese event is on Nov. 30, 7 p.m. at 9240 Young Rd. Tickets are $15 for members and $35 for non members.
