First off, I’m sorry C. D. McDonald had a negative experience on Jan. 26 at Chillliwack General Hospital Emergency, however I don’t agree with the overall impression given of the CGH emergency ward.
Over the course of the last year, I have used that same ward on six different occasions, for myself, my wife and my sister, both during the day and during the evening, weekdays and weekends. In all visits I found the staff to be knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. I have also had a follow-up phone call direct from the health lab when one of my results needed immediate attention, rather than them sending a notice through my family doctor’s office.
Wait times at Chilliwack are also very much shorter than a hospital in Surrey, New Westminster and Vancouver, which are ERs I have also used at my former residences.
Doctors and nurses in our health system are dealing with a heavy load these days, with COVID, RSV and all the other maladies cropping up on a more regular basis, and I marvel at the level of service they provide, often with a smile. I would suggest to anyone who has a similar experience to C. D. McDonald to alert the security staff, who have always been present in the ER during my visits.
