Chilliwack newcomers find warm welcome

Sometimes something unexpectedly wonderful happens that affects us profoundly. We want to share with everyone such an occasion when we were the beneficiaries of a Good Samaritan. On April 11th we discovered that we had a bulge in our left front tire and were advised to take the vehicle to OK Tire. Upon further re-examination by Paul, it was determined that the back tire (driver side) also had a bulge. We arranged to have the tires replaced the following day.

The tires were less than a year old and it was very disappointing (and expensive) for us to have to do this. We recently had fallen into the abyss of a giant pothole at the north end of the Coquihalla tunnel and while the car shook violently at the time, there did not appear to be any immediate damage.

We returned to OK Tire the next day and when went to pay for the tires we were advised by Glen that there was no charge. The tires had been paid for by a gentleman who had been sitting in the waiting room the previous day and heard our story. He very kindly paid the $550 bill and said that he wished to Pay It Forward. We are very grateful and wish to thank him from the bottom of our hearts. We will not forget his kindness. To say that we were shocked and surprised in being the recipients of his largess is really an understatement. Thank you also Paul and Glen for your participation. We were all very moved by such a generous gesture.

Perhaps we should not have been so surprised by such kindness and generosity. We only recently moved to this area (August 2016) and we have been met with friendliness and openness from businesses, residents and neighbours. We would be remiss if we did not take this opportunity to thank everyone especially Naomi Adams from Century 21, Connie MacLeod from Atmosphere Floors and our wonderful painter Arlene Andrew from First Impressions. Thanks everyone for being so welcoming and to you our Good Samaritan, may God bless you and yours always.
