Voices will ring out at Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra concert

Orchestra will welcome several choral groups to stage for ‘Voices’ at Chilliwack Cultural Centre

The Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will welcome several choral groups to the stage for its spring concert later this month.

The CSO presents ‘Voices’ at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Friday, April 19.

Orchestra conductor and musician Paula DeWit said folks can “experience the magic of music” that night.

People will hear the majestic harmonies of the Vancouver Orpheus Male Choir, the nostalgic melodies of Company B jazz band, the youthful energy of Voces Gioventu Children’s Choir, and the enchanting vocals of Belle Voci Acappella Ensemble. Also joining them will be the intermediate choir from Leary Integrated Arts and Technology Elementary School in Chilliwack under the direction of Crystal Boyes.

The diverse repertoire will span genres and eras, from classical to contemporary, and will showcase the talent and artistry of each ensemble.

On the program are choral selections of acapella and masterpieces combined with the orchestra which include: Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho by Steve Barnett, Rejoice o Virgin by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ave Generosa by Ola Gjeilo, The Sun Never Says by Dan Forrest, Give us Hope by Jim Papoulis, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy by Don Raye, Bei Mir Bist Du Shön by S. Secunda, Ad Astra by Jacob Narverud, Fisherman’s Son by Jimmy Rankin, Blow Ye the Trumpet by Kirke Mechem, and more.

“Whether you’re a seasoned music lover or simply looking for an unforgettable night out, our concert promises to inspire, uplift, and entertain,” DeWit said. “Join us for an unforgettable celebration of choral music, where voices unite in harmony and melodies resonate with the soul.”
