Al Stewart at Heron Reserve fundraiser
Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in style with a Gala Dinner and a concert by singer-songwriter Al Stewart at the Minter Gardens Conservatory on Sept. 7.
The glittering gala is the Nature Reserve’s major fundraiser and only 200 tickets are available, says spokesperson Janet Hutchison.
There are so many fundraisers and galas out there to support, the organizers wanted to do something a little different.
“The reason why we chose a concert is we wanted to make it a really fun evening.”
Al Stewart is best known for the folk-rock hit, Year of the Cat, and always puts on an enjoyable show.
There’s a lot to be thankful for and celebrate the accomplishments of the Chilliwack not-for-profit organization.
“We’ve had a lot of community support.”
It’s helped them to offer a range of free public nature programs, environmental education and the restoration of the habitat at the site.
“Ten years seems long but it is really just a beginning,” says Hutchison. “We’ve grown a lot and we really wanted to celebrate where we’ve come, and where we’re going, and we want to share that with the community.”
The events starts with a welcome and bar at 6 p.m., with buffet dinner at 7 p.m. and the concert at 8 p.m.
