Opera from The Met on the big screen in Chilliwack
Selections from the Metropolitan Opera presented in surround sound at a Chilliwack theatre are continuing in the new year.
They'll be on the big screen Saturday mornings at Galaxy Cinemas Chilliwack at Eagle Landing via satellite.
The performances are broadcast live, in high-definition across Canada, and Galaxy joined the fold for the sixth season of the Cineplex program last fall.
The sound quality is reportedly extremely crisp and the experience is as close to live as one can get.
The next operatic performance is Handel, Vivaldi, Rameau’s The Enchanted Island on Jan. 21 at 9:55 a.m. at Galaxy Cinemas.
It's part of Cineplex's Front Row Centre Events. The program was rolled out in major urban markets first, and now has made its way to smaller communities with a strong interest in the arts.
Here are the next dates for The Met: Live in HD.
The Enchanted Island – Jan. 21 at 9:55 a.m.
Wagner’s Götterdämmerung – Feb. 11 at 12 p.m.
Massenet’s Manon - April 7 at 9 a.m.
Verdi’s La Traviata – April 14 at 9:55 a.m.
