Rafa Silveira, a kindergarten student at Watson elementary, won a bicycle and helmet this Tuesday as part of a new reading program.

“I’m so happy, I have tears!” Rafa said in shock.

A group of Chilliwack Masons have started a new reading program, where elementary students can enter to win a bike at the end of the year. The more they read, the more chances they have to win.

Watson elementary school is the first school chosen for the program, and a bicycle was given to a boy and a girl. They also gave a bike and helmet to student Olivia Turner.

The school also gave out fun summer sports prizes to several other students.

This new program is in addition to the long-standing and very popular Kiwanis Super Reader Program, that rewards children for logging their reading times both monthly and annually.
