The 4th annual Stuff the Cruiser event held by the Upper Fraser Valley Regional RCMP is geared up and ready to go.

Police cars will be parked at three Overwaitea Food locations in Chilliwack on Dec. 15 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. to collect non-pereishable food items, as well as cash donations.

The three Chilliwack stores are Save-On Foods at 6014 Vedder Road, PriceSmart Foods at 46020 Yale Road and Cooper's Foods at 45635 Tamihi Way.

In 2010, the event raised over $8,700 in cash donations and 9,120 lbs of food was collected for area food banks.

"This is our way of engaging the community in a positive way every year, and it's an event that we all look forward to being part of," Const. Tracy Wolbeck said.

"This event brings the police and the public together for a common goal and charity really tends to unify a community," she said. "We are really proud to be involved in this."

In Agassiz, the event will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Super Value at 7024 Cheam Road.

In Hope, the event will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Cooper's Foods at 559 Old Hope Princeton Way.

In Boston Bar the event will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Kal Tire at 48075 Trans Canada Highway.

The event takes place in all locations on Dec. 15.

The needs of the food banks change from year to year, however, items they are always looking for are diapers, baby formula, canned fruits and vegetables and soups.
