Not so long ago, a ferry connected the communities of Harrison Mills and Chilliwack via the Fraser River.

It was a different lifestyle back then, and all that history comes to life at the Kilby Heritage Site this weekend. Staff and volunteers there will be celebrating Heritage Day, and the public is invited to step back in time.

Children can explore how life was in Grandma and Grandpa’s day. They will discover the differences in child’s lifestyle in the 1920s and those of today, through fun, interactive games and activities.

There will be opportunities to learn the hands-on life skills of settlers, including doing laundry, working on a farm, ice cream making and needle crafts. Kids can even be the storekeeper for a day.

Heritage Day is being held August 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are admission fees to get into the site. For more information, visit www.kilby.ca or phone 604-796-9592.
