Seniors are at the highest risk of complications from COVID-19, making self isolation key to getting through this pandemic.

To help keep seniors safe, and to help ease the cost of living right now, the Chilliwack and District Seniors’ Resources Society is starting up a weekly grocery program.

The program will provide free groceries for seniors, age 65 or older, who are low-income, in need of essential groceries and unable to access other programs.

The program will be provided in a safe, physical distancing way, with curbside pickup on Wednesdays, between 10 a.m. and noon at 45797 Victoria Ave. For those unable to do the pickup, delivery will also be available.

The program is funded by the Vancouver Foundation, with support from the Salvation Army and Chilliwack Citizens for Change, but could also use more financial support. They are also looking for seniors in need. People can be referred by others, through an email request to director@cdsrs.ca.

Those wishing to donate funds to the program can also contact the above email. The first day of the program will be Wednesday, April 29.
