Last veggie dropoff this Saturday in Chilliwack

Every little bit helps when it comes to root crops or winter squash.

The final dropoff for Plant A Row/Grow A Row participants is set for Saturday afternoon in Chilliwack.

It's the seventh one of 2012 hosted by Food Matters Chilliwack offering either a harvest swap opportunity or a chance to donate vegetables for the local soup kitchen.

It's rain or shine on Oct. 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sunshine Community Garden - behind the Mathesion Centre  45195 Wells Road.

"So far in 2012, 1999 pounds of locally grown produce has been donated to the Chilliwack Salvation Army Soup Kitchen and Care and Share Centre," said Alanna Clempson, PARGAR coordinator.

"We'd love to bring the total up to 2500 lbs this weekend - every little bit helps."
