The Chilliwack Bruins got their pre-Christmas road trip off to a solid start, edging the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-3 at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge.

Ryan Howse led the charge, scoring twice for the good guys. The Prince George native scored a pair of first period power play goals to stake Chilliwack to a 2-0 lead. The Hurricanes clawed back on power play goals by Cam Braes and Austin Fyten, tying the game at 2-2 early in the middle frame.

But Robin Soudek restored the lead at 13:21 of period two, and Jamie Crooks added the insurance goal on a third period power play.

Mitch Maxwell scored on a last minute penalty shot to wrap up the scoring.

Bruins goaltender Lucas Gore made 35 saves as the Canes out-shot Chilliwack 38-26.

The Bruins are back in action tonight, visiting in the Medicine Hat Tigers in a game that starts at 6:30 p.m. PST.
